Monday, December 03, 2007.

 

Today we began our project. Blackmon, the speed demon that he is, whipped out the timeline in math class after he finished his homework. I was assigned the front page. Im not going to lie, I am terrified of websites. But somehow, when I got home, I was able to crank out the front page in 15 minutes. I found an image, and then wrote a glorified thesis statement explaining the purpose of our website. I encountered only one problem, and that was I forgot the password and I kept mistyping the name of the Wiki. I went to email Blackmon, but lo and behold, he had already sent me one, just in case this thing happend. Thank goodness for Blackmon.

 

Tommorow, we will be working on finalizing the timeline, but to tell you the truth, I think its already finalized. Blackmon did a fantastic job on it. Since today, I Did the front page, I even thought that was scheduled to be done later in the project, we are ahead of the schedule, which is a great thing, because if the website just crashes for some reason, we will have extra time to fix it. Yay for working ahead.

Today was a below average day. I found a fantastic Quiz website to make the quiz upon but alas! Every time I would get to the last question I would accidently hit the delete button. Darn sensitive mouse!On a different not  b. Lentimorbus IS THE MOST OBSCURE BACTERIA IN THE WORLD! Thank goodness I found a reliable source on bacillus in general which had ONE SENTENCE, YES ONE SENTENCE,on B. Lentimorbus. Luckily, Bacillus in general applies to pretty much everything I am working on. Today I was assigned parts of the website to accomplish. I got the quiz, Interesting facts, Why you should care and Bibliography. Blackmon will get Mr. Bacillus, And all the others I dont have covered. Thank goodness I will have time tomorrow to work on the quiz. Hopefully I dont delete it.

 

Obviously, Things are not going as swimmingly as they were yesterday. But tommorow is a new day, and , My deadline for the Quiz is not until a while off. We are just working ahead as usual. Arent we just the greatest! We even have the weekend of the 13th and 14th off because we are working so far ahead. There is no need for me to panic. Tomorrow, I will just bang out the quiz and some of the Interesting facts.

Today was awesome. I got my interesting facts started, I found an amazing website, and MY QUIZ GOT DELETED AGAIN! This makes me angry if you couldnt tell. every time that I make that quiz, I accidently hit backspace when I didnt select anything and It deleted it all. It wont let you save either. I do have a good information source though. It is by a university of wisconsin professor who decided that he would upload all of his notes onto the computer. Its great, and it has everything. TOmmorow I will have a long busride to finish studying and other homework, so when i can finally connect to a wireless network, I can devote my full time to the quiz.

 

Im really glad i found that bacillus site. It releived alot of the pressure ive been feeling because once again, couldnt find anything on my bacteria till this wonderful professor came along.

We are advancing to the Semi Finals! w00t! That, as well as the fact that I am now finished with that demon of a website known as quizilla. I Finally Finished, Thank god. I used more of the Madison Professors online textbook, Which is super helpful just in case I didnt mention it in previous entries. Now that the quiz is done, I can now devote my full time to the Interesting facts page, Which I am trying to make, guess what, INTERESTING! Yep, I am converting all of the Professors notes into fun little interesting snippets that make you laugh. Thats my job.

 

This weekend I have a Certamen Tournament as well as The semis and The the FINALS, in the basketball tournament. (deo volente). THis means that sunday and friday will be my primary work day. THe bibliography Is what i am saving for last, becasue we may find new sites.  We still have had absolutely no luck with the subscription Databases.  But perhaps a miracle will occur, and we will suddenly find a link on brittanica to an even better website that the professor's. ( not likely)

Today was practically a free day. I did some more research. I added some more interesting facts. Really nothing happened. So I am going to tell you what is left to do. We have to finish the bibliography, Blackmon has to put up a game or two, and I have to finish interesting facts.  Reasons why we should care is beginning to look like a vestigial appendage, and we may amputate that.  That would mean that we have a week, to write 2 pages. Wow. thats alot of time. We still have to edit, but that shouldnt take long. I would like this journal entry to be longer, but sadly, I have nothing else to do, or say.

Today was only slightly more productive. Blackmon sent me an email that reads as follows:

Remarkably, we were thinking the exact same thing. I agree with all these ideas. Too many links is definitely uneccessary. My only concern is that how i am going to morph interesting facts and straight info. really all i did in ineteresting facts was say the same thing that straight info did but in a different and funny way. So really, all we may be doing is adding to straight info, and not morhping it.

Sunday December 9 2007

 

Today was a problem day. I was so busy. I had latin practice, church , then youth group all in a row. I did not write anything down. Latin practice was good though. I started branching out into history. I even beat Cameron, the resident history whiz, on a few questions. There is a meet this sunday in San Antonio vs Mr. Lees team. He is our rival each year that we play in state. We beat them last year in lower, but this year, they have david maynor, the best myth guy in the nation. I am also a myth guy. So in short, my job is to neutrilize him.

well I should get back on  topic, but of late, all I can talk about is how ahead I am. We only have to complete one more link.

Monday December 10 2007

 

Today, I did absolutley nothing.I broke my thumb at basketball, took ryan home, went to the doctor, got a splint, ate, then got home at 10. It stunk.The only thing I  had time for was to write this journal. Once again, this thumb should not affect me because I can still type fairly well. Also, we are very ahead. If it is due on sunday, we have lik 5 days to write another page of information and edit. I could do that in one day.

 

I hate broken bones. It really hurt. I ahve already broken one thumb. It actually was the same thumb.

Today, I got home, with plenty of time to work on my website because there was no Basketball practice. I got on, checked my email, and lo and behold, I had many to reply to. I got busy, and within 30 minutes, they were finished. But then I got the email from Heather.Heather is this girl from latin nationals. I had sent her a letter about 2 weeks ago, and finally got a reply. It was magical. She lives in virginia. So I responded to that. I edited and reedited it. I wanted it to be well worded. 2 hours later, It was done. Two hours later, It was 7:30 and time for dinner. I ate, then finally worked on the interesting facts.  The Internet is distracting and dangerous.

I need to stop procrastinating and start getting to work.

Wednesday, December 12 2007

 

Today, I had Basketball Practice from 4 to 6. Even though I couldnt participate in the actual scrimmaging, I stayed and learned plays. The  thing is, we only learned plays for about, oh I dont know, 10 minutes? So the rest of the time the team scrimmaged. And I stood on the sidelines and dribbled the ball with my right hand. It was pretty boring. I cant even be a passer  in some of the drills becasue I can only catch with one hand.This will hopefully not happen tomorrow. Dinner was exxcellent tonight. We had soft shell tacos, Guacamole, and chips. It made my day. One thing that not, was this biology website. Stephen Is working on the games. Apparently, he is getting some format, like javascript, from Mr. Michaud, to make a matching game, and a crossword puzzle. And stuff like that. It would be cool if it works. The only hitch, is that javascript is notoriously hard to work with. The point of trying to use javascript is that you can put it on the actual website and not have to open a link. That could be difficult. We will have to see if Stephen is able to pull it off.

At practice today, they finally found something usefull for me to do. I was the clock boy. Coach was like " Scott, go work the clock." Jack, the team Assistant, wasnt  there, so I had to learn fast how to work a very complicated instrument. Every 5 minutes,I would add time to the clock, and then tell coach to mve on to the next drill. I am one of the mystical people who knows how to work the clock. The buttons are not really even labled. It difficult. That was my accomplishment.

 

On another note, I finally decided to cruise around on brittanica and Gale group. I didnt find an article devoted specifically to B. Lentimorbus, but Once again, I found some much clearer Info on Bacillus in general. Stephen and I have decided that we are going to delete interesting fats, and name it related facts. This means that all the facts will be related to Bacillus. We then will be adding a link that says " from the minds of the creators. This will be fun and random stuff.

Its ten days till christmas, and Its a friday. Can you get any better than that? I had no practice today, so I went home and chilled on the computer for a wee bit. Actually, Like till 7:00. Today was really a restful day, because I knew that I was going to work on It on sunday. So at 8:30, I watched the terminal,with tom hanks. Its cheesy beyond belief. There is not even a conflict resolution. It bugged me. His relationship just died. It just ended. It was kinda sad. Then they saw each other again, but he left for bulgaria and his relationship was over. Dont watch the movie. Im writing this journal the next day, because I went to bed at 11:00. That was when the movie was finished. It was a really long movie. Tommorow, or I guess today, I am going to a latin tournament in san antonio.

Saturday, December 15 , 2007

 

Today was amazing. San Antonio, our rivals, decided to invite us to a tournament to see how we did. I was on the B team.In the first round, we killed. In the second round, we killed, and In the third, we held our own but lost. However, Our point total was higher than our A team, and only one team from every school can go into finals, so we ,the B team, with no literature position, made it into finals. We got second there, and beat clark, the team that has killed our upper team for the past 3 years. We came in close second to reagan, the other team that killed our upperteam. Yay for underdogs.

 

When I got home at around 5 o clock, I went to go see a play. Then I attempted to work on my project, but the link wouldnt work anymore. As I waited for an email to stephen, I thought about my journal entry. When I got on, It was ten thirty, and I had to go to bed. I finished my journal before hand though.

The day of judgement, December 16, 2007

 

Today, we turn in our project. It will be amazing. Blackmon will be sending it in around 2:30. It will be intense. I still have to make a bibliography, and add fun things to the from the minds of the creators. But other than that, It is done. I will fill out the group evaluation form today, and Stephen will make an audience evaluation. He will also upload a game if possible and delete interesting facts and add it to straight information. This insures that there will be no repeats in the information process. There was a flurry of emails last night, which means it is close to being done. " many prayers are offered up in the hope of a good grade"
